I have been using the WaterRower Club for a few weeks now. I did a lot of research on-line before choosing this product and I am very happy with my decision.

It is the perfect choice for an apartment dweller: it is quiet, takes up very little space and looks good (for a piece of exercise equipment). It sits quite happily in the corner of my living room when not in use, and takes just seconds to wheel into place in front of the TV and lower into position.

It is smooth and comfortable – a real pleasure to use. I find the monitor a great motivator. It is easy to see and easy to use.

For anyone intimidated with the idea of assembling this item – which arrives in two boxes: I am not generally a DIYer but I had no problems. The process is very logical and since the product is made in the good old USA, the instructions are written by a native English speaker.

I assembled it myself (I am a 45 year old female) but needed someone to hold one piece briefly while I screwed it into place. Overall, assembly was a breeze.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the WaterRower to anyone – it is a good-looking, well made piece of equipment and is lovely to use.

As a final note, WaterRower have several excellent videos on YouTube showing correct form. I have dodgy knees and lower back problems so correct form is a must.

I bought the “Club” version. Amazon goes through another company to provide this equipment. This company was very responsive when it became obvious that the rower would not arrive as Amazon had predicted.

I was told that each one was made to order in Rhode Island and mine was not made yet. They gave me a 20 dollar reduction in overall cost and told me that they would let me know when mine was shipped. The company that made them also included a free cleaning kit because of the delay. From order to delivery on my doorstep was one month. Considering how many companies have cut back on their inventories I suppose that is to be expected.

The equipment itself is very finely made. It came in two boxes via fed ex ground. Total weight was about 85 pounds. Since it was made in the USA all the directions and drawings were easy to follow in putting it together. I was glad that I didn’t have to pay a hefty shipping charge since it was purchased through Amazon.

It was a little difficult to visualize, but it stands when not on the ground over 7 feet tall.

I have no idea about its durability since I just put it together, but it looks like its made to be sturdy.

I used to row for USC Crew Team back in 1992, and we used to train on the wind based rowing machines, I don’t remember the brands, but they were very basic in comparison to the modern machines with there awesome computers.

I’ve recently tried the Concept 2, and it was great, and seems to be to the standard workout equipment for serious crew members, but it’s big and bulky, and not as easy to store, unless you have a dedicated gym room in your home.

The WaterRower, on the other hand, is easy to flip up and put in the corner of my bedroom. I roll it out on my balcony in the morning to enjoy the cool breeze while I row. I try to fit my workout in the morning before the baby wakes up, and I have no problem hearing him over the whoosh of the water.

The WaterRower S4 computer isn’t as feature rich as the PM3/4 on the concept 2, but it has all that I need, since I just like to do basic 10km or 45 min sessions with a heartmonitor.

I really do enjoy the sound of the water, it does remind me of hearing the water run up against a fiberglass hull of a boat, and the dripping of water between each stroke.I haven’t been in a crew boat is years, but the memories come back when I’m on the waterrower, and not so much on the concept 2.

I would consider myself a intermediate athlete, and this machine truly challenges me. I expect I’ll get many years of use out of it. It is made of very good quality components, and looks great.

I highly recommended rowing to anyone looking for a very aerobic workout that uses more than 80% of your body’s muscle groups. If you’re not getting an awesome workout, you’re probably not rowing right. Try join a rowing club for a few months to perfect your technique, then you’ll be set for working out at home.

Though it is pricey, I think it is worth the investment, since the experience is so much better then the piston or wind based machines, which makes me look forward to the next workout.
